Saint Mary's Midweek Program
Wednesdays 6:45 PM - 8:00 PM

At Saint Mary Evangelical Lutheran Church, our Wednesday midweek program is time set aside during the week on Wednesday evenings to additionally worship, pray and praise God. This provides an additional opportunity to Sundays to learn and grow in faith by studying the Holy Bible and learning about the Christian faith and our Lutheran heritage. Our Midweek Program is also a mission outreach and open to non-members.

Midweek originated as an alternative for those children not having opportunities to attend a parochial or Christian Day School. In our locale, Wednesday evenings in the Des Moines area have traditionally been reserved and respected by the numerous area Des Moines area public schools for religious activities.  Area schools do not normally schedule competitions and other evening public school functions that might interfere with religious activities.

For children, our program is comparable and similar to an ongoing Vacation Bible School. Midweek includes making crafts, snacks, playing games and learning age appropriate Christian and Lutheran music.

Our Midweek program includes learning opportunities for people of all ages - from some small children to adults. Junior and Adult Catechesis and new member classes may be included in the future. Adult classes are offered for those adults that bring children for midweek.

Midweek is not held on those Wednesday evenings when worship services are scheduled. Wednesday worship services are scheduled the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, during Advent and Lent. Please check Saint Mary's Calendar for more information!
