Our Theology Is Unchanging
Finding a church home can be a challenging experience in
the life of Christians.
There are many churches and church bodies to choose from,
many with an ever changing theology, teaching, worship and
practice.
What was considered wrong just a few years ago is now often
considered right. What was known to be right is now often
considered wrong. Such evolutionary theology makes it
difficult to find and remain in many congregations and
church bodies for many.
The Apostle Paul wrote in the book of Hebrews: “Jesus Christ
is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
By believing in Jesus Christ you can be assured of the
eternal stability He alone provides. A spiritual stability
in your faith for you, your children, and your children’s
children. Such faith is a gift of God, given by His grace.
It is God who gathers us for worship around the gifts He
gives to us through His Word and Sacraments.
There are unchanging truths when it comes to God, for in the
Book of Malachi God Himself revealed, “For I am the LORD, I
do not change.”
The Lord Jesus Christ taught in Matthew 24:34-46, “Heaven
and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass
away.” The Holy Bible has not changed, nor have the very
truths it teaches.
Saint Mary Evangelical Lutheran Church believes the Holy
Bible is God’s Word. We believe and teach the words of God,
rather than the ever-changing words of man.
Saint Mary Evangelical Lutheran Church uses historical
liturgies in its worship services. This worship of God does
not consist of entertaining its members, nor the charisma or
personality of its pastor. The focus of liturgical worship
is on Christ, not man. Such worship is Christ-centered and
never man-centered. Our focus is on Christ while His focus
is always on us. We invite you to worship with us in our
Christ-centered worship.
Our Congregation Is
Confessional
Our congregation accepts without reservation:
The Scriptures of the Old and the New Testament as the
inspired, inerrant, and authoritative written Word of God,
and the only rule and norm of faith, life, and practice.
All the Symbolical Books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church,
as found in the Book of Concord of 1580, to be a true and
unadulterated statement and exposition of the Word of God,
these being: the three Ecumenical Creeds (the Apostles’
Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed), the
Unaltered Augsburg Confession of 1530, the Apology of the
Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles, the Large
Catechism of Luther, the Small Catechism of Luther, and the
Formula of Concord.

Saint Mary
Evangelical Lutheran Church believes, teaches and practices
doctrinally what was found in the former
Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference Conference of
North America. Many have defined our congregation as
being "Old Missouri." We use the The Lutheran Hymnal in
addition to Luther's Small Catechism in our Divine Worship
services.
